In this sense, the technological improvements that have been introduced in recent years have contributed to a notable advance in one of the most frequent surgical treatments in ophthalmology, such as cataract surgery. In fact, the only possible and effective treatment to resolve the loss of vision caused by cataract – which involves the opacification of the crystalline lens – is surgical.
One of these improvements is the use of femtosecondlaser, or femtophaco, which allows reaching levels of precision, safety and speed in the early stages of the intervention for cataract extraction, impossible to achieve with the traditional manual technique.
