Since our launch in 1998, we have promoted various eye health projects at the local level (Mallorca) and we have collaborated with different international cooperation entities to carry out care and surgical campaigns in Africa and Latin America. Our action programmes are always developed under the premise of sustainability over time, as we do not pursue immediate action, but rather we are committed to its durability. <\/p>\n
We believe that when we help a person to solve their vision problem we are contributing, even indirectly, to providing greater well-being, but also to modifying the living conditions of the community to which they belong, offering them new reasons for illusion and hope. environment (Mallorca), through eye health projects in Third World countries integrated in the \u201cAn international perspective\u201d<\/strong> program, since international cooperation is a high priority line of action within our objectives.<\/p>\n We are aware of the importance of optimal visual health, and for this reason, we are moving to the poorest countries in the world where the lack of health resources is a determining factor in the visual impairments they suffer, many of them avoidable.<\/p>\n This task requires the involvement of highly qualified medical and health personnel, with the ability to solve complex problems, as well as continuous effort, since we have in our hands the opportunity to completely change a person’s life in a few minutes and offer them a better 2024, the San Francisco de As\u00eds Hospital and the Oftalmedic Salv\u00e0 Foundation signed a Twinning Agreement with the aim of providing eye health care to more than 2,000 families supported by MISOL\u2019s social work. As a result of this agreement, and for the second consecutive year, a team of volunteers\u2014comprising an ophthalmologist, two optometrists, and an administrative coordinator\u2014traveled to continue the established program of eye examinations and vision testing at MISOL-run centers. <\/p>\n During the 2024 and 2025 missions, vision checks were carried out for 737 beneficiaries, of whom 484 were students aged between 4 and 14 years. As a result of the examinations, 378 pairs of glasses were prescribed, which were assembled in Mallorca and later sent to Bolivia, all free of charge. <\/p>\n These are the first steps of a more ambitious project, through which the Foundation, MISOL, and the San Francisco de As\u00eds Hospital aim to implement a basic and permanent eye health service to provide care for the beneficiaries of their social programs.[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”12588,12592,12580,12584″ image_grid_loading=”default” layout=”constrained_fullwidth” item_spacing=”1px” gallery_style=”5″ load_in_animation=”none” el_class=”galeria-proyectos”][vc_column_text]\n La Paz y el Alto 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n Bolivia<\/em><\/p>\n 1 \/ 6<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/item][item simple_slider_bg_image_position=”default” simple_slider_overlay_strength=”0.3″ simple_slider_bg_image_loading=”default” title=”Item” id=”1758276617241-1″ tab_id=”1758276617245-4″][vc_column_text el_class=”galeria-proyectos”]In June 2024, we traveled to Bolivia to bring vision to people in situations of social vulnerability who have no access to ophthalmological or optometric care.En Junio de 2024 nos desplazamos a Bolivia para repartir miradas a personas en situaci\u00f3n de vulnerabilidad social que no tienen acceso a una atenci\u00f3n oftalmol\u00f3gica u optom\u00e9trica.<\/p>\n The volunteer team from Fundaci\u00f3 Oftalmedic Salv\u00e0 spent five days carrying out eye examinations in the areas of La Paz and El Alto, covering a total of four schools, a special education center, a small town in the Yungas region with 100 inhabitants, and the San Francisco de As\u00eds Hospital in La Paz.<\/p>\n As a result, we issued 183 eyeglass prescriptions for these individuals\u2014especially children and young people\u2014who needed better vision but lacked the resources to obtain glasses.<\/p>\n Thanks to the support of \u00d3ptica Alfonso<\/a><\/strong> in producing the lenses, we assembled the glasses and sent them to these people who need them so much, helping make their lives a little easier.<\/p>\n This campaign was made possible through collaboration with the humanitarian organization Misol Franciscanas<\/a><\/strong>, which manages several facilities providing assistance to the populations of La Paz and El Alto. These include the San Francisco de As\u00eds Educational Center, which supports people at risk of social exclusion; the San Francisco de As\u00eds Hospital, which cares for patients who cannot afford medical attention; and the San Francisco de As\u00eds Center in El Alto, an educational project aimed at children and adolescents from vulnerable families, focusing on early education, children with disabilities, and those with learning difficulties.[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”12562,12566,12558,12570″ image_grid_loading=”default” layout=”constrained_fullwidth” item_spacing=”1px” gallery_style=”5″ load_in_animation=”none” el_class=”galeria-proyectos”][vc_column_text]\n La Paz y el Alto 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n Bolivia<\/em><\/p>\n 2 \/ 6<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/item][item simple_slider_bg_image_position=”default” simple_slider_overlay_strength=”0.3″ simple_slider_bg_image_loading=”default” id=”1758276617321-3″ tab_id=”1758276617321-3″ title=”Elemento”][vc_column_text]\n The challenge of this surgical expedition that took us to Mauritania was to perform ophthalmological surgery to prevent blindness, given the lack of means when it comes to treating the diseases that cause it.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n In many cases, these are treatable forms of blindness linked to the presence of cataracts, even in people who are not very old. Through the specialized medical care that we make available to the population, we contribute to the almost complete rehabilitation of people who are absolutely disabled and who even depend on another person to walk. <\/u><\/u><\/p>\n This mission is part of the international cooperation project \u201cNouadhibou Vision<\/b><\/a>\u201d, promoted by the Jorge Ali\u00f3 Foundation<\/a><\/b> in 2007 on the occasion of the first expedition to the city of Nouadhibou, in Mauritania.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n In the first phase, efforts are focused on the child population and then ophthalmological care is extended to the general population. Ten years later, in order to respond to the growing needs of the 300,000 inhabitants living in this area of Africa, the only eye hospital in Mauritania and Saharan Africa was inaugurated, very popular in the city and in its area of influence and integrated into the national health system. <\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”4572,4576,4580,4584″ image_grid_loading=”default” layout=”constrained_fullwidth” item_spacing=”1px” gallery_style=”5″ load_in_animation=”none” el_class=”galeria-proyectos”][vc_column_text]\n Nouadhibou Vision 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n Mauritania<\/em><\/p>\n 3 \/ 6<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/item][item simple_slider_bg_image_position=”default” simple_slider_overlay_strength=”0.3″ simple_slider_bg_image_loading=”default” id=”1758276617374-4″ tab_id=”1758276617375-9″ title=”Elemento”][vc_column_text]In the La Libertad District of Trujillo, in Peru, there is a huge garbage dump known as El Milagro, in which about 40,000 people live working in conditions of extreme poverty, since their only economic activity is the collection by hand of the waste that accumulates there and around which this population center is built.<\/p>\n The complicated socio-economic situation of the population determines the existence of multiple needs to be met, both in the health and educational fields. For this reason, we decided to join the cooperation project of comprehensive support for the community jointly promoted by Voluntaris de Mallorca<\/strong><\/a> and Sister Catalina Vallespir, a religious of Mallorcan origin and member of Caritas Trujillo<\/strong><\/a>, who has been living in this area of the world for 35 years. <\/p>\n In order to support the children of the region, who are the future generators of change in their communities and in their country, we implement a visual health program consisting of carrying out optometric and ophthalmological check-ups on students at the Toni Real and Aroldo Otegui schools and their families and providing them with prescription glasses on a regular basis to improve their vision conditions.<\/p>\n In 2018, in order to take a further step in favor of the population of El Milagro, a medical dispensary was set up at the Toni Real school, which serves 300 students between 3 and 17 years old, thanks to the proceeds obtained at the solidarity gala on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of our foundation.<\/p>\n
