Eyelids

Although the eyelids are not part of the eyeball, they play an important role in the vision system as they fulfil various functions: protecting the eye, a particularly sensitive organ, maintaining the tear film, which is continuously replenished by blinking, distributing the tear evenly over the entire ocular surface, and helping to fall asleep.
