General ophthalmology
General Ophthalmology is responsible for carrying out an initial assessment of eye health and referring specific or more complex pathologies to the corresponding specialty.
What is it
The General Ophthalmology Unit is responsible for carrying out a first complete examination of the patient’s visual health through routine ophthalmological check-ups, as well as carrying out follow-up visits.
Oftalmedic Salvà has specialised staff and the most advanced diagnostic means to facilitate an accurate diagnosis adapted to the unique needs of each person and to determine the optimal treatment, through a wide variety of ophthalmological tests – those indicated in each case – which study the structure and functioning of your visual system.
This test is especially valuable in certain pathologies, in which the success of the treatment depends on its early detection. In the case of children, a complete ophthalmological examination is recommended from the age of three, which should be repeated annually, to diagnose any abnormality in time before the development of their vision has been completed.

When the General Ophthalmology area diagnoses a disease, once the preliminary study has been completed, the appropriate treatment is started and, if necessary, it is referred to the corresponding area of specialization.
Oftalmedic Salvà has different medical units specialised in each of the areas of Ophthalmology to offer patients comprehensive and advanced ophthalmological care, which responds to their eye and visual health needs.
